(Indian Army) The Indian Army has launched Phase IV of ‘Mission Niranter Milap 1.0’, an initiative aimed at addressing the concerns of veterans, Veer Naris (war widows), and families of fallen soldiers by reaching out to them directly at their homes. The latest phase commenced from the Records Mechanised Infantry Centre & School (MIC&S) in Ahmednagar.
(Indian Army) On June 17, Major General R. Prem Raj (SM, VSM), Additional Director General – Mechanised Infantry, flagged off the special outreach team. The initiative is being conducted under the guidance of Lieutenant General P. S. Shekhawat and seeks to establish direct contact with veterans and their families while ensuring prompt resolution of their grievances.
(Indian Army) The mission team comprises two Junior Commissioned Officers, four Non-Commissioned Officers, and representatives from the Mechanised Infantry Regiment and its battalions. The team will visit 16 districts across Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, engaging directly with approximately 4,125 veterans, Veer Naris, and families of martyrs.
During the visits, assistance and guidance will be provided regarding pension-related issues, queries connected to the SPARSH pension system, welfare schemes, and various service-related benefits.
According to Army officials, Mission Niranter Milap is more than an administrative exercise; it is a humanitarian initiative designed to strengthen the bond of trust between the Indian Army and the families of those who have served the nation. The mission reaffirms the Army’s commitment to the welfare of soldiers and their families.
Various Army regiments regularly conduct outreach programs for veterans, Veer Naris, and martyrs’ families. Such initiatives aim to resolve issues related to pensions, healthcare, documentation, SPARSH, ECHS, and other government welfare services at the local level whenever possible.
Maharashtra is home to a large veteran community, with districts such as Pune, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Satara, Kolhapur, and several parts of Vidarbha having a strong military tradition. Programs like this help veterans and their families access government benefits more effectively.
Ahmednagar holds special significance for the Indian Army because it houses the Mechanised Infantry Centre & School (MIC&S), a key institution responsible for training soldiers and managing various administrative functions. Therefore, the launch of Phase IV of Mission Niranter Milap from Ahmednagar is considered particularly significant.
