Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not only a brave warrior but also a supreme human being who worked for the welfare of all. He prioritized human welfare while upholding the traditions and customs of his time. He protected and respected even the women of his enemies, a standard that is still not seen in many places today. Through this conduct, the flag of Maharashtra Dharma was raised high across the world. For those who want to read the true character of Shivaji, the book ‘Shivaji the Great’ by Kolhapur-based historian Dr. Balakrishna is a must-read. He was the first to give Shivaji the title “Father of the Indian Navy.” As we take Shivaji’s name, we must strive to be good followers of his thoughts, said the renowned historian Indrajit Sawant. These remarks were made by Sawant during the lecture ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Beyond Novels’,organized by Dr.Dhananjay Ware, Dr.Mahesh Jare, Dr.Rajendra Dhamne of ‘Aksharmanav Mauli Seva,’ Dr. Ravikant Pacharne of ‘Madhindu Opticals,’ and the Rehmat Sultan Foundation, along with the Rayat Samachar family.
