On the occasion of International (Yoga Day), Yashwant Vidyalaya, run by the District Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj Education Institution at Shiral in Pathardi taluka, celebrated Yoga Day with great enthusiasm on Saturday (June 21). Under the guidance of Sheikh Naim Ahmed Badshah and yoga instructor Pankaj Gundesha, students and teachers performed various yoga postures, pranayama, and breathing exercises, promoting the message of a healthy lifestyle. Participants took part in the event with great enthusiasm and joy.

(Yoga Day) At the beginning of the Yoga Day program, guidance was provided on the importance of yoga and the scientific principles behind it. Students and teachers then collectively practiced different yoga postures. It was emphasized that regular yoga practice helps improve physical fitness, mental stability, concentration, and immunity.

(Yoga Day) Headmaster Nanasaheb Bajirao Kale spoke in detail about the history of yoga, its health benefits, and its relevance in daily life. He stated that in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, everyone should devote some time to yoga every day. Regular yoga practice helps maintain physical and mental well-being, reduces stress, and promotes positive energy.
He also appealed to students to develop the habit of practicing yoga from an early age, stating that it would contribute to building a healthier and stronger society in the future.
While explaining the history of Yoga Day, it was noted that yogic traditions were nurtured in India by the Nath sect of Siddha Yogis in the Garbhagiri mountain range and later developed through the work of sages such as Patanjali. In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, following a proposal by India that received support from a large number of countries.
Since 2015, Yoga Day has been celebrated worldwide every year on June 21, spreading the message of a healthy and balanced lifestyle through yoga. The date was chosen because June 21 is the longest day of the year and holds special significance.
Teachers and staff members including Savita Ghune, Seema Thakar, Rajshree Dushing, Ravindra Jyotik, Sambhaji Zhine, Rajesh Bhapkar, E.R. Avhad, Anand Salve, and A.S. Mulemama contributed to the successful organization of the event. The enthusiastic participation of students created an atmosphere of health, discipline, and positivity throughout the campus.
