(goa news) Goa has been home to many talented poets, from Krishnadas Shyama to B.B. Borkar and from Vishnu Wagh to Sudesh Lotlikar. Gomantak poetry is flourishing in all aspects, carrying forward a rich literary legacy, remarked senior poet and critic Ramdas Phutane.
(goa news) Phutane was speaking as the chairperson of the National Multilingual Poets’ Meet, organized by the Institute Menezes Braganza (IMB) at the Dempo College of Commerce auditorium in Bambolim, Goa. Also present on stage were IMB President Dashrath Parab, Member Secretary Ashok Parab, Principal Manoj Kamat, poet Madhav Borkar, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Dashrath Parab said that this multilingual poetry meet, held on the eve of Republic Day, strengthens the thread of national unity. Many Goan poets are making a mark at the national level, earning prestigious recognitions from Sahitya Akademi to Padma Shri Awards.
A total of 18 poets from across India participated in this multilingual poetry meet, including Madhav Borkar, Ratika Rane, Diksha Halarnkar, Smita Kamat, Ashalata Navelkar, Sonali Sawal Desai, Nilba Khandekar, Dr. Brian Mendonca, Chitrasen Shabab, Sunita Fadnis, and Guadalup Dias (from Goa), Krishna Badigar, Anuradha Singh (from Karnataka), Santosh Kumar (from Bihar), Raman Sandhu (from Punjab), Jamaluddin Chishti, and Abhijit Ghule (from Maharashtra).
Principal Manoj Kamat inaugurated the poetry meet by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Dashrath Parab delivered the introductory speech. The event saw a large gathering of students, teachers, professors, and poetry enthusiasts. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ashok Parab.
