The Under-14 Municipal-level Inter-School Cricket Tournament for boys is underway at the Wadia Park Sports Complex here. Sixteen school teams are participating, and in yesterday’s quarter-final match between Residential High School and Bhausaheb Firodia High School, Residential High School won the toss and chose to field first. The bowlers of Residential High School justified their captain’s decision by restricting Bhausaheb Firodia High School to just 26/5 runs through precise bowling.
In response, Aniket and Atif opened for Residential High School. However, Atif was caught out after scoring 3 runs. Aniket then took control of the game alongside Varad, ensuring no further collapse and leading his team to victory with a composed inning.
Aniket’s brilliant performance not only secured an easy victory for the team but also helped Residential High School advance to the final match of the tournament.
“Batting on this pitch was extremely difficult. The ball either stayed low or bounced unexpectedly. Still, I knew I had to bat if our team wanted to reach the finals, and that’s what I did. My coach had advised me on how to bat in such conditions, and I followed his guidance,” said the Man of the Match, Aniket Sinare.
