(Women) Meera Borwankar, widely known as the ‘Lady Supercop’ for her bold and fearless work style, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission. Her appointment has raised hopes for more effective and concrete action on women’s issues across the state.
(Women) A 1981 batch IPS officer, Borwankar is recognized as the first female IPS officer from the Maharashtra cadre. Throughout her long and distinguished career in the police force, she successfully cracked several complex and high-profile cases, establishing a strong deterrent against criminals.
(Women) After serving in various senior positions in the police force, she has now been entrusted with the important responsibility of leading the State Women’s Commission. It is widely believed that her leadership will bring positive change in the areas of women’s rights, protection, and empowerment.
Experts are of the opinion that her vast experience will prove invaluable in addressing women’s grievances, delivering justice, and taking policy-level steps toward empowerment across the state.
