Drug Free India | Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Health! Pharmacy Students Lead Awareness Rally for a Drug-Free India

Addiction destroys not only an individual but an entire family, says Prof. Ganesh Nimse

(Drug Free India) India is a nation of youth, and the country’s future lies in their hands. However, the rising menace of substance abuse has become a serious concern. Addiction destroys not only an individual but also an entire family’s future.

Young people must stay away from drugs and adopt proper education, counselling, and a positive lifestyle, said Prof. Ganesh Nimse, District Coordinator of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Savitribai Phule Pune University.

A Drug Free India awareness rally was organised jointly by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Dr. N. J. Paulbudhe College of Pharmacy, Vasant Tekdi, and the Department of Social Welfare, Ahilyanagar.

(Drug Free India) The programme was attended by the institution’s Vice President Rambhau Buchkul, Secretary Ramkisan Deshmukh, Treasurer Dadasaheb Bhoite, Principal Dr. Shyam Panga, Principal Dr. Anuradha Chavan, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and a large number of students.
The rally commenced from Shriram Chowk, where students marched through Pipeline Road to D-Mart Chowk, carrying awareness placards and raising anti-drug slogans. Through the campaign, participants urged citizens, especially the youth, to stay away from addiction and work towards building a healthy, strong, and drug-free society.
The initiative received best wishes from District Collector and District Magistrate Dr. Pankaj Ashiya (IAS), Superintendent of Police Mummaka Sudarshan (IPS), and Devidas Kokate, an officer from the Social Welfare Department.
Prof. Ganesh Nimse encouraged students to continue spreading awareness about drug de-addiction and to fulfil their social responsibility in building a Drug Free India.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Venu Kola, Dr. Roshni Suryavanshi, Dr. Prasad Ghugarkar, NSS Programme Officer Dr. Vijay Tarde, and Prof. Swati Kadnor.
The campaign effectively conveyed the message, “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Health.” Participants pledged to actively contribute towards building a drug-free, healthy, and empowered India.
The awareness rally was supported by sponsors including Budhwant Skin & Hair Clinic, Asian Pharmacy, Mac-Care Hospital, Varad Netralaya, Saurabh Travels, Shree Prakash Trophies, A.S. Gym, Bhandari Cloth Stores, New Anant Collection, Bharat Chemicals, and Osteon Hospital.
