Regular Repayers to Receive Incentive of up to ₹50,000

(Agriculture) Providing major relief to indebted farmers across the state, the Maharashtra Government has announced the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana – 2026’. As declared by the Chief Minister during the budget session, eligible crop loan borrowers with outstanding dues up to 30 September 2025 will receive loan waiver benefits of up to ₹2 lakh. The State Cabinet has also decided to provide an incentive benefit of up to ₹50,000 to farmers who have regularly repaid their loans.
(Agriculture) The ambitious scheme has been introduced in response to the recurring debt burden faced by farmers. It aims to provide relief to those affected by natural calamities, unseasonal rainfall, droughts, hailstorms, floods, and other adverse conditions that have caused financial distress.
(Agriculture) Key Provisions of the Scheme
Crop loans taken between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2025 will be considered.
Outstanding dues as of 30 September 2025 and unpaid amounts up to 31 March 2026 will be included.
Eligible farmers will receive loan waiver benefits of up to ₹2 lakh per farmer.
Farmers who previously benefited under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Farmer Loan Waiver Scheme 2019 may receive additional relief of up to ₹50,000, subject to specified conditions.
Farmers with outstanding loans exceeding ₹2 lakh may avail benefits through a One-Time Settlement (OTS) mechanism.
Regular loan repayment farmers will receive incentive assistance of up to ₹50,000.
Who Will Be Ineligible?
The following categories will be excluded from the scheme:
Former and current ministers
Members of Parliament (MPs)
Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs)
Members of local self-government bodies
Government officers and employees earning more than ₹25,000 per month
Income-tax payers
High-pension recipients
Certain office-bearers of cooperative institutions
Online Implementation
The entire scheme will be implemented online. Aadhaar authentication and AgriStack registration will be mandatory for beneficiaries. The scheme will be administered through the Cooperation Department, while a special Cabinet sub-committee headed by the Chief Minister has also been constituted to oversee implementation.
A Significant Relief Measure
The scheme seeks not only to provide debt relief to lakhs of farmers but also to recognize and reward those who have consistently repaid their loans. It is expected to strengthen farmers’ financial stability and provide a boost to the rural economy.
