(History) Supporters of the Sambhaji Brigade have expressed satisfaction, saying that the organization’s long-running campaign for “history rectification” has finally succeeded. A statue of Ram Ganesh Gadkari, who was accused by some groups of writing literature that defamed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, had earlier been installed at Sambhaji Garden in Pune. This had caused strong resentment among many followers of Sambhaji Maharaj for several years.

(History) The Sambhaji Brigade and various pro-Shivaji organizations had consistently alleged that placing the statue of a person accused of insulting Sambhaji Maharaj in a garden named after him hurt the sentiments of Shivaji followers. Several protests, memorandums, and awareness campaigns were carried out in opposition to it.

(History) Against this backdrop, a few years ago, angry supporters removed Ram Ganesh Gadkari’s statue and allegedly threw it into a drain in Pune. The incident sparked widespread discussion across the state. The Sambhaji Brigade described the act as a “struggle for history rectification.”

Meanwhile, supporters have expressed satisfaction after the government implemented the decision to install a statue of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Sambhaji Garden. “This is not merely a statue, but a victory for the honor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj,” Bhaiyya Patil said in reaction.
Welcoming the decision, Sambhaji Brigade activists said it marks a victory in removing distortions in history and ensuring justice to what they describe as true history.
