(Politics) Comrade Adv. Subhash Lande, State Secretary of the Communist Party of India, has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that before appealing to citizens for austerity and fuel conservation, the ruling class must first impose restrictions on their own lavish lifestyles.
(Politics) Elaborating further, Adv. Comrade Lande said that ministers, MLAs, MPs, and the wealthy friends of those in power – who make unlimited use of petrol, diesel, air travel, private vehicles, gold, and other luxury goods – should first set an example of austerity themselves. He alleged that while preaching sacrifice to ordinary people, the ruling class remains deeply immersed in luxury.
(Politics) He noted that rising inflation, unemployment, and the ongoing economic exploitation of common people have already made life extremely difficult for ordinary citizens. In such circumstances, lecturing the public again on sacrifice and austerity reflects a position far removed from reality.
(Politics) Additionally, he demanded that the government exercise control over large-scale religious and political events that involve massive expenditure, and also raised the issue of suspending grand events like the Kumbh Mela.
Adv. Comrade Subhash Lande made it clear that only if the rulers impose restrictions on themselves – rather than preaching to the public – will the right message be sent to the country.
