(India news) A sit-in protest was organized on July 2 by the Archaeological Survey of India Workers’ Union at the Dharohar Bhavan (Heritage Building) of the Archaeological Survey of India in New Delhi. Employees from across the country gathered in support of the union’s various demands.
(India news) The primary demands raised during the protest included the regularization of temporary workers holding 1/30 grade and working for the past 15 to 30 years, by appointing them to the post of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). Additionally, the union demanded that daily wage workers who have been employed for over ten years be granted 1/30 grade status.
(India news) On behalf of the union, a memorandum listing these long-pending demands was submitted to Anant Madhukar, Additional Director General (Administration), Rajendra Singh Khinchi, Director of Administration, and Shubham Goyal, Section Officer, of the Archaeological Survey of India in New Delhi.
The protest saw participation from around 40 workers representing various states. Notable attendees included Delhi State Vice President of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Mulchandji, Minister Sandeep Hapse, Kailas Thengde, Deepak Vetal, Sainath Kale, Yogesh Bhusari, Girish Kubde, B. Babu, K. Prabhakar, Sanjay Thakre, Pravin, Shivprasad, Baburam, and Jagdish Gongal.
The sit-in protest was conducted peacefully. The union expressed hope that the authorities would give due consideration to the demands and provide justice.
