(Social) In collaboration with the Human Rights Campaign, CSRD Institute of Social Work and Research, the Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare, and like-minded organizations, the Constitution Awareness Festival was organized on November 26. This marks the seventh year of the event, with Ashok Sabban as the event’s chairperson ensuring its success.
(Social) The program began with floral tributes to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by Constitution scholar Subhash Ware, Ashok Sabban, Architect Arshad Shaikh, and Social Welfare Officer Pravin Koragantiwar. The rally commenced at 9:30 AM with dignitaries flagging it off from the Shivaji Maharaj statue amidst slogans like “Long Live the Constitution.”
MSW students from first and second years performed songs and slogans emphasizing “Constitution for All,” creating awareness about its principles. Ashwini Bhosale, Shubham Gaikwad, Jitesh Kamble, Dheeraj Wargat, and others sang enlightenment songs, supported musically by Shivaji Naikawadi of Manuskichi Shala and BJMC student Bhairawnath Wakale.
Leaders Sandhya Medhe, Dr. Prashant Shinde, Adv. Santosh Gaikwad, Yunusbhai Tambatkar, and others guided the rally. Eminent participants included Dr. Kamar Surur, Abidkhan Dulhekhan, Rajendra Kardile, and numerous democracy advocates, activists, and students.
The rally proceeded to the Mahatma Phule statue at Maliwada, where tributes were offered with slogans like “With the Constitution, there’s no fear.” It culminated at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue, where Prof. Dr. Suresh Pathare paid floral tributes. MSW students performed more songs promoting constitutional awareness, which was warmly received by the public.
A Prabodhan Rath (Awareness Chariot) featuring the statues of Dr. Ambedkar, Phule, and Shivaji Maharaj, led by Sanjay Kamble, joined the rally, drawing attention on city streets and highways. The event concluded at CSRD with songs of enlightenment. The success of the rally was credited to the active participation of CSRD staff and faculty.
