One Tree, A Lifetime for Many Generations
Ahilyanagar | June 4 | Rayat Samachar
(Environment) Marking the occasion of World Environment Day, a large-scale tree plantation campaign will be launched under the ‘Green City’ initiative with the objective of transforming Ahilyanagar into a greener city. Organizers have appealed to citizens to participate enthusiastically in this people’s movement. The inaugural plantation program will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. at the grounds of New Arts, Commerce and Science College, Ahilyanagar, in the presence of dignitaries.
(Environment) The initiative has been conceptualized by Deputy Mayor Dhananjay Jadhav and is part of Guardian Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil’s ambitious ‘Green City’ project, which aims to plant and nurture one lakh trees within a year.
(Environment) The campaign is being jointly implemented by Sai Dwarka Trust and the Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation. To encourage participation, several facilities will be provided free of cost, including tall native saplings, pit excavation through JCB machines, soil testing, soil support where required, and technical guidance.
However, participants must agree to one condition: they must take responsibility for the care and maintenance of the trees they plant.
Youth groups, women’s organizations, senior citizens, housing societies, colonies, schools, colleges, temples, institutions, industries, hospitals, government offices, and citizens wishing to undertake plantation drives in public spaces have been urged to register their requirements at the earliest.
With the message, “Let us plant a tree today and build a greener Ahilyanagar tomorrow,” organizers aim to expand environmental conservation into a citywide public movement.
The Green Army Core Committee includes Deputy Mayor Dhananjay Jadhav, Rajendra Pawar, Prof. Harshal Agale, Eng. Pratap Kale, and Adv. & Eng. Kailash Dighe, who have appealed for widespread public participation.
The campaign seeks to spread environmental awareness across the city under the slogan: “One Tree, A Lifetime for Many Generations.”
