(Third Gender Service) As lakhs of Warkaris make their annual pilgrimage to Pandharpur on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, food distribution and community service activities are being organized across Maharashtra. Among these, the humanitarian initiative undertaken by the Third Gender Samajseva Sangh in Shrirampur stood out for its compassion and inclusivity.
Members of the transgender community, who often face social discrimination, lovingly served breakfast and refreshments to thousands of Warkaris, spreading a powerful message of humanity and equality.
As the prestigious Nivrutti Maharaj Palkhi procession arrived in Shrirampur on its way to Pandharpur, members of the organisation warmly welcomed the devotees. Amid chants of “Jai Hari Mauli” and “Vitthal… Vitthal…”, they distributed snacks and refreshments, reflecting the Warkari tradition that considers selfless service as an act of devotion.
(Third Gender Service) The initiative demonstrated that the transgender community is an integral part of society and is equally committed to compassion, service, and social responsibility. Through this act, they challenged stereotypes and highlighted that humanity knows no barriers of gender, caste, or religion – it is expressed through love, kindness, and selfless service.
The Warkaris, deeply touched by the gesture, thanked the members of the transgender community and appreciated their dedication. The initiative became an inspiring example of equality, compassion, and positive social change.
Disha Shaikh said, “We have been serving Warkaris on their journey to Pandharpur for many years. We see Lord Pandurang in every devotee. Serving them gives us immense spiritual satisfaction, and we consider this our sacred duty.”
Pinky Haji, President of the Third Gender Samajseva Sangh, added, “We also wish to contribute to society as responsible citizens. Warkaris are devotees of Lord Vitthal, and serving them is our privilege. The smiles and blessings of the pilgrims are the greatest reward for our service. Offering this humble service at the feet of Lord Vitthal gives us deep inner peace.”
