38 Students Participate; Young Chefs Impress the Judges with Culinary Skills

Education is not confined to textbooks alone; it is also about nurturing life skills that contribute to a student’s overall personality development. With this vision, Chhabildas English Medium School (CBSE Affiliated), Dadar, successfully organized the MasterChef Contest 2026 – 27, a two-day culinary competition that received an enthusiastic response from students, parents, and teachers. The event was held on June 24 and 25, 2026.
To encourage students to utilize their summer vacation productively, develop self-reliance, and learn practical life skills, the school motivated them to practice preparing different dishes throughout the month. This initiative eventually culminated in the unique and skill-based MasterChef Contest.
The competition was inaugurated by Shridhar Kamalakar Kane, owner of the renowned Mama Kane Restaurant in Dadar, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Sayali Walke, Director of Chaitanya – Authentic Malvani Restaurant, was present as the special guest.
The event provided students with an opportunity to receive guidance from culinary experts while showcasing their creativity and cooking abilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Shailendra Salvi, President of the institution, said that along with academic excellence, practical life skills are equally essential for the holistic development of students. Initiatives like the MasterChef Contest help build confidence, creativity, and self-reliance among children.
School Principal Komal Madam stated that every student possesses unique hidden talents. Providing them with the right platform while making education enjoyable is the primary objective behind such activities.
The competition was organized in a creative, disciplined, and professional manner, similar to a television reality show. Renowned personalities from the culinary field served as judges to evaluate students’ presentation, creativity, hygiene, and culinary skills.
Chief Guest Shridhar Kane appreciated the participants, saying that the dishes reflected creativity, dedication, and confidence. He remarked that such competitions help students develop practical skills that benefit them throughout life.
Day One: Grade 6 Students Showcase Their Culinary Talent
On the first day, Grade 6 students prepared different varieties of Poha and Tea, impressing the judges with their taste, presentation, and confidence.

– First Prize: Kavish Kolte
– Second Prize: Aditya Patil
– Third Prize: Atharva Surve
– Consolation Prize: Parv Khandor
Day Two: Grades 7 and 8 Win Hearts
On the second day, actor, writer, director, and owner of Pithi Bhaat Restaurant, Sameer Khandekar, attended as the Chief Guest. He appreciated both the students’ culinary skills and the school’s innovative initiative.
He remarked that Chhabildas School has successfully translated the broader concept of education into reality by providing students with a platform to showcase their hidden talents. Such initiatives significantly enhance students’ confidence and creativity.
Students from Grades 7 and 8 prepared Cutlets, Parathas, and Tea, impressing the judges with their taste, hygiene, presentation, and innovation.

A total of 38 students participated in the two-day competition, while 20 students were honored with participation and merit certificates.
Grade 6 students prepared Poha and Tea, Grade 7 students showcased Cutlets and Tea, while Grade 8 participants prepared Parathas and Tea, demonstrating remarkable culinary talent.
The judges highly appreciated the students’ creativity, presentation skills, hygiene, taste, and confidence. The efforts of the teachers, non-teaching staff, and students in successfully organizing the event were also acknowledged.
Those present expressed that through this innovative initiative promoting life skills alongside academics, Chhabildas English Medium School has taken yet another significant step toward the holistic development of its students.
