Womens Power Komal Narayan Patil Wakale, a former student of Babuji Avhad College Pathardi, has been announced as the recipient of the ‘Shiv Chhatrapati Award’ in the sport of weightlifting. Komal started her weightlifting practice in 2011, and today, her name being etched on the Shiv Chhatrapati Award is a matter of great pride for the people of Ahmednagar.
Reacting to the news, Komal said, “I have been waiting for this moment all my life. The hard work has paid off. I am overjoyed and proud to have fulfilled my parents’ faith in me. Seeing the happiness on their faces gives me immense satisfaction.”
Komal’s Outstanding Achievements:
National Records:
Best Snatch: 105 kg.
Best Clean and Jerk: 125 kg.
Consecutive gold medals in National Games weightlifting events.
Gold medals at National Games in Gujarat 2022 and Goa 2023.
Senior National Championship: 3 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
Khelo India League: 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal.
Her journey has been greatly supported by her coach, Prof. Dr. Vijay Deshmukh, a physical education teacher at Babuji Avhad College, Pathardi. It is particularly notable that Komal continues to train regularly at the weightlifting center of this college.
Komal’s achievements have also been recognized by the college’s former principal Dr. G. P. Dhakane, the current principal Dr. B. A. Chaure, and the Parth Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s chairman Abhay Avhad, vice-chairman Suresh Avhad, and all executive members. Sports enthusiasts have congratulated Komal for bringing glory to the college and the town of Pathardi.
