The observational Marathi short film ‘Dindi | Way of Life,’ based on the traditional Agasti Rishi Dindi of Agasti Rishi Sansthan in Akole, Ahilyanagar district, will premiere on YouTube at 7:00 AM on July 25, 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi. The film is an attempt to take Akole’s Warkari tradition, discipline, equality and devotion to audiences across the world. The central idea of the film is ‘Pandharichi Wari: A Rich Way of Life Based on Equality.’
The short film was shot on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:34 AM, during the Agasti Rishi Dindi that departed from State Bank Chowk in Ahilyanagar. All the Warkaris participating in this Dindi are from the Akole region, and their natural and devotional journey has been captured without any artificial intervention.
One of the most distinctive features of this 3-minute-08-second short film is that it has been filmed in a single continuous shot. Instead of artificial drama, interviews or explanatory narration, the film has been created by observing events as they naturally unfold. This allows viewers to experience the journey as though they are participating in the Agasti Rishi Dindi themselves.
Interestingly, the entire film -including its shooting, editing and final mastering – was completed using a Samsung Galaxy S24 FE smartphone. The film is being seen as an inspiring example of how meaningful and quality filmmaking can be achieved without expensive, high-end equipment.
The film has been conceptualised, produced and directed by Bhairavnath Chandrabhaga Tukaram Wakale, while Kiran Dattatraj Dahale has lent his voice for the abhang featured in the film. The concluding portion incorporates Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s abhang “Aamha Ghari Dhan Shabdanchaich Ratne…”, further highlighting the film’s central message.
This visual document of Akole’s Warkari tradition is not merely a portrayal of a religious journey. It is an honest attempt to present to the world a rich way of life rooted in equality, discipline, community spirit and humanity. The filmmakers have appealed to the residents of Akole taluka, Warkaris, former students and Akole residents to watch the short film and support the cultural heritage of their hometown.
