(biodiversity) The 37th Maharashtra Bird Lovers Conference (Pakshimitra Sammelan) will be held this year in Shevgaon, Ahmednagar (Ahilyanagar) district. Dr. Anil Mali, a senior ornithologist and researcher from Nashik, has been selected as the chairperson for the conference. Maharashtra Pakshimitra, an organization of bird enthusiasts, has been working in the state for the past four decades. It organizes state-level and regional conferences focusing on bird study, conservation, and awareness.

Dr. Anil Mali, a senior ornithologist and researcher from Nashik, has been selected as the chairperson for the conference. Maharashtra Pakshimitra, an organization of bird enthusiasts, has been working in the state for the past four decades. To date, it has hosted 36 state-level and 30 regional conferences. This year’s conference is set to be hosted by New Arts, Commerce, and Science College, Shevgaon. The event will take place on the college premises on February 1 and 2, 2025. Leading up to the conference, various competitions have been organized at the local level. It is expected that at least 250 delegates from across the state and beyond will attend the event.Dr. Anil Mali, the chairperson of this year’s conference, has been actively working in the field of bird conservation and awareness. He has developed a bird study curriculum for school students under the banner of Maharashtra Pakshimitra, which is currently being taught in several schools. Dr. Mali is a senior member of the organization and has actively participated in numerous conferences over the years.The president of Maharashtra Pakshimitra, Dr. Jayant Wadatkar, informed that Dr. Anil Mali was unanimously selected as the chairperson by the state executive committee of the organization.
