Press On the occasion of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Shrikant Kakatikar, Resident Editor of Belgaum’s Rayat Samachar, and Kirtana Kumari K., Senior Journalist at Karnataka’s Sanyukta Karnataka newspaper and a member of the Women Journalists’ Association, visited the Rayat Samachar office to extend their best wishes. During the visit, they emphasized that women have a significant scope in journalism. Women possess a unique perspective on society, with a keen sense of understanding right from wrong, making journalism a suitable career for them. Kirtana Kumari shared several of her own experiences in the field.
There was an in-depth discussion on various topics, including the Assembly elections, political and social developments, and women’s issues. Journalism students from CSRD ISWR’s BJMC College, including Maryam Syed, Esther, and Jose, engaged in a conversation with Kirtana Kumari, gaining valuable insights about the field, especially regarding career opportunities for women journalists. Students also shared that the Pune University BJMC course conducted at CSRD, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Suresh Pathare, is an excellent option for a career in journalism. The discussion saw active participation from Datta Vadwanikar, Deepak Shirsath, Pankaj Gundecha, and Bhairawnath Wakale.
