(Agriculture) The Maharashtra government’s recently announced farm loan waiver scheme contains several conditions and restrictions, which may leave a large number of farmers ineligible for relief. Therefore, the scheme is misleading, and the state government should grant an unconditional and universal loan waiver to all farmers and clear their debt records, demanded Adv. Comrade Subhash Lande, State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI).

(Agriculture) On Friday, the CPI and the Kisan Sabha organized a protest demonstration outside the Shevgaon Tehsil Office, demanding an unconditional and comprehensive loan waiver for all farmers across the state. Adv. Lande addressed the protesters during the agitation.

(Agriculture) He stated that the numerous conditions attached to the government’s loan waiver scheme would prevent many farmers from receiving actual benefits, while primarily helping banks recover outstanding loans. As a result, farmers would gain little from the initiative. He emphasized that complete and universal debt relief is the need of the hour.
Lande also expressed concern over rising fertilizer prices and shortages. He said farmers are being forced to stand in long queues outside fertilizer shops, and in some places even spend nights waiting, yet adequate supplies remain unavailable.
A memorandum was submitted to Tehsildar Akash Dahade, demanding a complete loan waiver for all farmers, sufficient and affordable fertilizer supplies for the Kharif season, and subsidized seeds for cotton and other crops.
The protest was attended by CPI State Secretary Adv. Subhash Lande, Taluka Secretary Sandeep Ithape, Bapurao Rashinkar, Bhiva Ghorpade, Ashokrao Najan, Dattatraya Are, Rambhau Lande, Gorakh Kakade, Vishnu Gore, Adv. Bhagchand Ukirde, Murlidhar Kale, Sarjerao Khose, Ankush Khose, Arjun Khaire, Santosh Khose, Akash Kale, Babulal Sayyed, along with a large number of farmers and party workers.
