Press The Marathi Patrakar Parishad, established on December 3, 1939, in Bombay, has been celebrating its foundation day as ‘Journalist Health Day’ for the past ten years. On this day, local doctors assist in conducting health check-ups for journalists, providing necessary first aid. In cases of serious illnesses, patients are referred to Mumbai for further treatment. Last year, journalist health camps received an overwhelming response, with camps organized in 265 talukas across the state. Over 10,000 journalists and their families were examined, setting a world record.
Press This year, the Marathi Patrakar Parishad, in collaboration with Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Medical College, has organized a health camp in Ahmednagar. The camp will take place on December 3, 2024, at the Urban Health Centre, Savedi, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
During the camp, various health tests, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and hemoglobin checks, will be conducted free of cost. Each participating journalist will receive a special ‘health kit’ designed for winter use. The Ahmednagar branch of the Marathi Patrakar Parishad has urged all journalist colleagues to attend and benefit from this initiative.
As part of the foundation day celebrations, journalist health check-up camps will be held statewide this year as well. There are 354 talukas in the state, and health screening camps will be organized in each of them. S.M. Deshmukh has called on local journalists to take the initiative and ensure the success of these camps. Journalists lead challenging lives. Irregular schedules, untimely meals, and stress take a toll on their health. Unfortunately, health issues often go unnoticed until it is too late. To prevent such scenarios, the Marathi Patrakar Parishad conducts these annual health check-ups. Local journalists are encouraged to come together to ensure the success of these camps.
Trustee Kiran Naik, Trustee Sharad Pable, President Milind Ashtivkar, Working President Shivraj Katkar, General Secretary Suresh Naikwade, Treasurer Mansurbhai, and State Publicity Chairman Sandeep Kulkarni have also appealed to journalists to actively participate.
