(Ipl) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made a spectacular start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by securing a dominant 7-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match of the tournament.
(Ipl) In the match played at Eden Gardens, KKR batted first and scored 174 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane (56 runs off 31 balls) and Sunil Narine (44 runs off 26 balls) provided a solid start. However, RCB’s bowlers took wickets at regular intervals, preventing KKR from posting a bigger total. Krunal Pandya (3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs) delivered an impressive bowling performance and played a crucial role in RCB’s victory.
(Ipl) In response, RCB successfully chased the target in just 16.2 overs, losing only 3 wickets. Opener Phil Salt (56 runs off 31 balls) and Virat Kohli (59 runs off 36 balls) struck brilliant half-centuries. Rajat Patidar (34 runs off 16 balls) played a quick cameo to seal the win. Krunal Pandya was named the Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
With this victory, RCB has secured their first two points in the IPL 2025 points table.
