Akash Daunde, Upasarpanch (Deputy sarpanch) of Somthane Nalavde Budruk village in Pathardi Taluka, has been selected for the prestigious ‘The Good Politician’ leadership development training program at the Indian School of Democracy Institute in Delhi. The program received applications from over 3,500 candidates working in social and political fields from across the country, and only 43 were selected. Akash Daunde is the sole representative from the Ahmednagar district. Along with him, Vishal Potonde from Nashik, Adv. Minal Mendhe from Akole, and Adv. Vaibhavi Ghadge from Palghar were also selected from Maharashtra.
Providing further information, Akash Daunde stated that the selection process spanned three months and involved three phases: an initial interview, a political writing project, and a final selection camp held in Hyderabad. Following the camp, the first phase of training commenced, which included a visit to the Parliament. The selection criteria focused on political and social commitment. The next training phase will take place in Kerala, as part of a nine-month program.
During this program, participants will receive training on various national political party procedures, leadership development, skill-building, and election management. The program includes mentorship from prominent figures such as Yogendra Yadav, Trinamool Congress’s Mahua Moitra, and Vinita Natarajan, President of BJP’s Mahila Aghadi.
The objective of this training program is to cultivate leaders with a strong commitment to democracy. The selected candidates come from various states, including Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.
