Election In a notable incident during the 2024 assembly elections, Anita Khandagale, despite personal challenges, prioritized her democratic duty. After completing the Dashkriya Vidhi (a Hindu death ritual) in Rajur, 130 kilometers away, she came to cast her vote. This event highlighted the significance of voting in preserving a robust democracy and upholding constitutional values.

Journalist Vijay Khandagale’s wife, Anita Khandagale, faced a poignant situation when her brother-in-law passed away. The Dashkriya Vidhi coincided with polling day, but Anita traveled directly from Rajur to ensure she wasn’t deprived of her right to vote, even amidst personal grief. Her determination underscored the importance of participating in elections.

Speaking about the event, Anita Khandagale emphasized, “Citizens get the right to vote only once every five years. I did not want to lose this opportunity. Despite my pain, as a local candidate was contesting, I felt it was my duty to vote.”
Similarly, Shraddha Sikchi, daughter of onion trader Sanjay Sikchi, demonstrated her commitment to democracy by traveling all the way from Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, to cast her vote. She shared her joy and satisfaction after meeting everyone and fulfilling her responsibility as a citizen, as reported by Rayat Samachar journalist Vijay Khandagale.
This election saw many voters making extraordinary efforts, coming from across the state, the country, and even abroad, to exercise their sacred duty of voting.
