The release of the book Arshadnama by the renowned architect Arshad Shaikh took place today. The event was conducted in the CSR Hall, with the former Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University, Dr. Sarjerao Nimase, officiating, and Pune Lokmat editor Sanjay Awte presiding. Distinguished individuals like Ashok Sabban, Prof. Dr. Mahebub Sayyed, and Dr. Prashant Shinde were present on the stage.
In his presidential speech, Sanjay Awate added that the book highlights both our heritage and reflection while underscoring the ‘Idea of India.’ It is a step beyond the Discovery of India, delving into today’s and tomorrow’s India.
He also shared insights from his conversation with Dr. Ajit Ranade, an economist and consultant to the Reserve Bank. Development, as defined by an economist, is when one can drink water at any public place with confidence, enroll their children in public schools, admit relatives to public hospitals, and travel using public transport, with even the wealthy wishing to do the same.
Dr. Sarjerao Nimase elaborated on the Ahmednagar forced renaming issue and the related legal process. He also referred to the case of renaming Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Instead of changing Ahmedabad’s original name, a new smart city called Gandhinagar was developed alongside. Similarly, for Ahmednagar, a new smart city named Ahilyanagar could be built next to the original city.
At the start of the event, Abdul Qadir, the former principal of Chand Sultana High School, and Nizam Jahagirdar, a trustee of Shah Sharif Dargah, shared their thoughts.
