(Women empowerment) The Khar Road branch of the National Federation of Indian Women organized a comprehensive meeting on Sunday, July 13, focusing on pressing issues faced by women. The gathering aimed to raise awareness and empower women through information sharing and collective discussion.
(Women empowerment) Dr. Anuradha Reddy provided an in-depth explanation of the origins of the Indian Women’s Federation, its objectives, and the importance of women’s collectives. She elaborated on how to identify quality ration, ensure rightful food distribution, recognize fraudulent practices by ration shopkeepers, and highlighted the necessity of organizing to safeguard entitlements.
(Women empowerment) Additionally, she informed the attendees about important government schemes such as the Women and Child Welfare Scheme, Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana, and the Indira Gandhi Pension Scheme further promoting women empowerment.
Rupali Kunchi Karve shared her practical experience from the Dharavi branch. She spoke about forming self-help groups and how women collectively addressed water supply issues by approaching the BMC ward office. She also emphasized the active participation of women in the ongoing ‘Save Dharavi Movement.’
Around 25 to 30 women participated in the meeting. The event of women empowerment was coordinated by Ashwini Surve, Sarita Patil, and Mr. Golatkar. Sayali Kamble introduced the guests while Dipali Golatkar delivered the vote of thanks. The group resolved to convene another meeting soon and continue working for the betterment of society.
