(Political) Member of Parliament Shahu Chhatrapati met Chief Justice of India Bhushan Gavai in Delhi on Tuesday, during which they held an informal discussion on various social and judicial issues.

(Political) A few months ago, after Justice Gavai’s appointment to the Supreme Court, he had visited Kolhapur and met MP Shahu Chhatrapati at the historic New Palace. The Chhatrapati family had then extended a warm welcome and offered their congratulations.

(Political) During that visit, Justice Gavai had remarked that, due to the progressive educational policies of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, children from the Bahujan community like him were able to gain access to education. He had also invited MP Shahu Chhatrapati to visit him in Delhi.

Following up on that invitation, the meeting took place this Tuesday in Delhi. During the meeting, MP Shahu Chhatrapati emphasized the urgent need to establish a circuit bench of the Bombay High Court in Kolhapur. He elaborated on how the region’s residents are currently deprived of accessible judicial infrastructure and stressed that such a bench would significantly improve the delivery of justice.

He earnestly requested that the circuit bench be established during the tenure of Chief Justice Gavai. Former MLA Malojiraje was also present during the meeting.
