(India news) Women have been considered symbols of courage and strength in Indian culture for ages. They have also been skilled administrators, teachers, and warriors. Time and again, brave women have walked shoulder to shoulder with men.
(India news) Colonel Poonam Devgan is a shining example of this tradition. Colonel Poonam (EME) is serving the country as the first Commanding Officer. She is a third-generation army officer in her family. Her father, the late Brig. Devendra Kumar Devgan, and her grandfather were also retired army officers. Colonel Poonam is the eldest of three sisters. Since childhood, she used to look at herself in the mirror wearing her father’s cap and shoes. She had always aspired to serve her country like her father.
She successfully fulfilled her dreams with the blessings of her parents. With positivity and courage, Colonel Poonam has faced numerous challenges head-on. She credits her success to her father, the late Brigadier Devendra Kumar Devgan, and her mother, Sudha Devgan. Colonel Poonam’s husband is also an officer in the army.
Her mother is a homemaker, her younger sister is a journalist from Delhi University, and her husband is an Air Force officer, while the youngest sister lives in the US with her family. Thus, her life is a great example of women’s empowerment.
