As Election approach in Maharashtra, each political party presents its agenda like supermarket advertisements enticing customers with discounts. These offers, such as “Buy one, get one free” or “50% off,” are designed to catch buyers’ attention and drive profits. Similarly, political parties in Maharashtra are campaigning with enticing promises, including schemes like the “Ladli Behan Yojana,” designed specifically to secure votes. In the past three months, the ruling party has spent over 40,000 crores of public money on such schemes, with a significant portion distributed as “gifts” under the “Ladli Behan Yojana.”
Political parties have released their own manifestos, pledging to deposit funds into women’s bank accounts without any associated work or service, targeting women as a major voter base. A significant portion of Maharashtra’s female population has already fallen under the influence of the “Ladli Behan Yojana.” In this election, all parties seem focused on women, using bribery as a core tactic. The once-popular phrase “neither will I eat, nor will I let others eat” has faded away. The ruling party has made significant efforts to secure women’s votes by offering a modest 1500 rupees a month, effectively compromising their voting rights.
Bribery has tainted the current elections in Maharashtra, with many women now inclined to support the ruling party once again. Political leaders from corrupt parties have successfully embedded bribery within households, with nearly every other home affected. Women have become the central focus, and political parties are now using them as instruments in this scheme by offering 1500 rupees monthly with no expectation of work, simply in exchange for their vote.
In this dismal scenario, many women have traded their consciences for a small monthly payment of 1500 rupees. Whether motivated by greed or compelled by circumstance, they have become ensnared in the government’s devious plan. The root of this issue lies in human reasoning, where objections arise locally, tied to contemporary concerns. However, Allah’s laws are timeless, intended for all humanity until the Day of Judgment. Thus, any law mentioned in the Quran is eternal. Being a Muslim means adhering to the principles and laws set by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated that giving or taking bribes is forbidden, as these laws are designed to protect the integrity of society.
Yet, today, society has become a sanctuary for corruption. The government itself has corrupted society by using bribes to retain power. Under the guise of democracy, the public has been mentally enslaved. People have been turned into supporters of religious extremists dismantling India’s democracy and harming the economy. However, Allah says in the Quran (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 177) that the best use of wealth is to free slaves, alongside aiding the poor, needy, and orphans. If any religion ever valued freeing slaves, it was Islam. Democracy, by ignoring Allah’s laws, has mentally enslaved the public, using government funds as bribes to remain in power for another term.
