(Educational) Srinivas Bojja, a noted social activist from Maharashtra, has submitted a strong appeal to State Education Minister Dada Bhuse and the Director of Education, urging them to allow college admissions without the mandatory caste verification certificate. He has requested that students be granted at least six months to submit the certificate after admission.

Educational

(Educational) Currently, across Maharashtra—including regions like Ahilyanagar—many students seeking admission to professional courses like engineering, medicine, law, agriculture, and polytechnic are facing severe hurdles. These students are being forced to wait at caste verification offices for long periods, but many are unable to obtain the certificates in time. Some colleges are reportedly telling students verbally that they must pay full fees if the certificate is not submitted at the time of admission—a highly unfair and unofficial practice.

(Educational) Bojja stressed that this is causing immense stress to economically weaker and rural students, especially those from marginalized communities, who already face multiple barriers in accessing higher education.

He pointed out that former Education Minister Chandrakant Patil had announced during a monsoon session of the state legislature that students would be granted a six-month window to submit their caste certificates. Students were to be admitted based on the acknowledgment receipt of their application. However, due to the lack of an official government resolution (GR), colleges are refusing to implement the decision, leaving students and parents confused and anxious.

Srinivas Bojja has urged Minister Dada Bhuse to immediately issue the long-pending GR and instruct all colleges to grant provisional admissions. He also demanded that all district-level officials of the Caste Verification Committees and Social Justice Department be directed to issue caste verification certificates within one month to end the unnecessary hardship for underprivileged students for this educational decision.

Srinivas Bojja urges Minister Bhuse to allow college admissions without caste certificate, demanding six-month window and immediate issuance of pending GR for educational growth of India.
