(Public issue) Due to the administrative negligence of the Municipal Corporation, the entrance to the District Collector’s residence has become utterly pitiable. The southern gate on Station Road is filled with potholes, mud, soil, garbage, and stagnant water. As a result, the residence of the district’s senior-most officer itself has started resembling a road from some remote area.
Because of the recent rains, water has accumulated here, creating slush and filth. With no proper arrangement for cleanliness or drainage, citizens fear an outbreak of epidemics such as dengue and malaria. Shockingly, even the Collector, the chief officer of the district, has to wade through this mess just to enter his own house.
If such dire conditions exist right in the central part of the city and at the Collector’s residence, one can easily imagine the state of the rest of the city under the jurisdiction of the Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation. Unless immediate steps are taken for road repairs, water removal, and cleanliness, public anger is likely to rise further.
At present, large heaps of garbage are piled up across Ahilyanagar city. Stray pigs, dogs, and abandoned cattle have spread everywhere. The presence of pigs in any city is considered the first sign of uncleanliness. On the road from DSP Chowk to Kothla Stand, nearly 50 to 60 dogs can be seen roaming in packs. School and college students, women, and elderly citizens walk this road daily, and these dogs pose a major threat to them.
Looking at the miserable state of the city, it is clear that our once-proud Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation urgently needs to make the city pig-free and clean. An inefficient administration can completely ruin the city. Such mismanagement could lead to epidemics spreading through the city. Playing with public health is no small matter. A clean and healthy city environment is the need of the hour.
